Sandies in the Beach Huts is a delightful collection of children’s stories written by Hove author Cathy Watts. Born out of a love of being by the sea, Cathy’s stories will appeal to all who carry with them a love of the seaside and the shoreline.
The beach huts of Hove have become the inspiration for a new children’s book aimed at 5-10 year olds and written by local author, Cathy Watts. Beautifully illustrated by watercolour artist Emma Ball, this book introduces children to the world of the Sandies, the small characters who live beneath each beach hut and come out at dusk after everyone has gone home to sort out the beach environment. Just some of their adventures involve chasing away weaver fish, rescuing stranded starfish and defying local vandals. The stories involve many aspects of our local beaches and are compatible with the Key Stage 2 Environmental Science curriculum, making them an excellent read in schools or as a bedtime story at home. You can almost smell the sea breezes!
Available direct from c.watts@brighton.ac.uk price £5.99 inc. postage and packing. If you would like the book to be hand signed and dedicated then please e-mail Cathy.
